First established as a national site on March 1, 1872 (17 Stat. 32), Yellowstone National Park is home to a large variety of wildlife, including grizzly bears, wolves, bison and elk. Preserved in the park are Old Faithful and a collection of the world’s most extraordinary geysers and other geothermal features.
Each three-coin set features an uncirculated quarter from the U.S. Mint at Philadelphia, an uncirculated quarter from the U.S. Mint at Denver and a proof quarter from the U.S. Mint at San Francisco with images specific to each national site. The coins are held in a durable plastic card that features a picturesque image and a brief description of the site and the coin, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the card.
