This 2013 Woodrow Wilson Presidential $1 Coin 500-Coin Box is comprised of 500 coins – 20 rolls of 25 circulating quality coins minted at the United States Mint at Philadelphia that have never been placed into circulation.
These coins’ designs display large, dramatic artwork and edge-incused inscriptions of the year, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mint mark. Each coin features a likeness of Roosevelt and has a common reverse design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty.
The design inscriptions on the obverse (heads) of the 2013 Woodrow Wilson Presidential $1 Coin are:
- WOODROW WILSON
- IN GOD WE TRUST
- 28th PRESIDENT
Woodrow Wilson was born in Staunton, Virginia, in 1856. He became a professor of political science and was appointed president of Princeton University in 1902. He was elected Governor of New Jersey in 1910 and President of the United States just two years later. While he was President, the Federal Reserve Act was passed, which provided the country with a more elastic money supply. He suffered a stroke while trying to rally support for the Versailles Treaty, which was defeated by the Senate.
Please Note: United States Mint coins are rolled by an automated machine process and not by hand; thus, we cannot guarantee that the obverse (heads) or reverse (tails) of a coin will be at either end of a coin roll.
In 2005, President Bush signed the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 authorizing the United States Mint to strike $1 coins honoring America’s Presidents in the order in which they served. This coin, the 28th in the Presidential $1 Coin Program, honors President Woodrow Wilson.
