Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt was the founder of the Rough Rider Cavalry, Nobel Peace Prize winner, proponent of “Big Stick Diplomacy,” pioneering conservationist, and the 26th President of the United States. Roosevelt’s larger-than-life personality is credited with cutting a continent in half with the creation of the Panama Canal and leading the charge on 20th century trust-busting. One of the Nation’s first conservationists, Roosevelt preserved 230 million acres of land for National Parks and National Forests. His larger-than-life personality was on full display when he refused medical attention after being shot in an assassination attempt, instead going on to deliver a scheduled speech and stating “…it takes more than that to kill a bull moose.”
