Three of our Mighty Minters—Lina, Eli, and Timothy—are out delivering gifts. Timothy is pulling a big gift on a sleigh with the reverse side of the Kennedy Half Dollar displayed. There is a big red ribbon on top with “2024” and “United States Mint” on each side of the bow. Snowflakes are also on each side of the ribbon.
The Kennedy Half Dollar features the Presidential Coat of Arms—an eagle bearing a shield without support. The half dollar was first minted in 1964 to commemorate President John F. Kennedy following his assassination in 1963. It is encircled by a ring of 50 stars, one for each state. In its talons, the eagle clutches an olive branch and arrows, representing peace and war. The eagle holds a ribbon with the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” the motto of the United States, meaning “out of many, one.”
An engraved Mint seal is on the back of the handcrafted ornament. It was constructed in solid brass and finished with the silvery sheen of imitation rhodium. The packaging features the ornament’s design on the front, and the back has a description and serves as the certificate of authenticity.
We hope this year’s Mighty Minters ornament will inspire children of all ages to kick up their heels and join Lina, Eli, and Timothy in a gift for gratitude this holiday season! It’s sure to bring a smile to anyone who receives this unique keepsake, so shop early!
