United States Mint 2024 Ornament

This year’s United States Mint Ornament features the reverse (tails) of the uncirculated Kennedy Half Dollar. The words “UNITED STATES MINT” and “2024” encircle the coin with a tiny band of hollies and berries. Bright red poinsettias and green foliage form a wreath around the outer band.

The Kennedy Half Dollar features the Presidential Coat of Arms—an eagle bearing a shield without support.

The half dollar was first minted in 1964 to commemorate President John F. Kennedy following his assassination in 1963. It is encircled by a ring of 50 stars, one for each state. In its talons, the eagle clutches an olive branch and arrows, representing peace and war. The eagle holds a ribbon with the inscription “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” the motto of the United States, meaning “out of many, one.”

An engraved Mint seal is on the back of the handcrafted ornament, along with “Made in the U.S.A.” and “©2024 U.S. Mint.” The package also includes a certificate of authenticity.
