American Women Quarters 2023 Three-Roll Set – Eleanor Roosevelt (Philadelphia, Denver & San Francisco)

The quarters honor a diverse group of notable American women who made significant contributions in a variety of fields, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, and the arts. The women honored are from ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse backgrounds.

Eleanor Roosevelt was one of the most active and influential first lady of the United States, author, reformer, civil liberties and human rights advocate, and the first American woman delegate to United Nations. She was also a member of the first delegation to the UN.

This American Women Quarters Three-Roll Set – Eleanor Roosevelt contains single rolls of 40 coins, for a total of 120 coins in each set. They are struck at the Philadelphia, Denver and San Francisco Mints.

The reverse (tails) design depicts Eleanor Roosevelt and the scales of justice against a backdrop representing the globe, symbolic of her impactful work with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES of AMERICA,” “QUARTER DOLLAR,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ELEANOR ROOSEVELT,” and “UNIVERSAL DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS.”

The common obverse (heads) depicts a portrait of George Washington. This design was originally composed and sculpted by Laura Gardin Fraser as a candidate entry for the 1932 quarter, which honored the bicentennial of George Washington’s birth. Inscriptions are “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2023.”
