The 2014 First Spouse Series One-Half Ounce Gold Uncirculated Coin–Grace Coolidge is the second coin released in 2014 in the First Spouse Gold Coin Series and features First Lady Grace Coolidge. It is a one-half ounce 24-karat gold coin struck with an uncirculated finish, giving it a satin-like finish. The obverse (heads side) features a portrait of Grace Coolidge. The reverse (tails side) Features three hands fingerspelling the letters U, S and A in American Sign Language, representing Mrs. Coolidge’s advocacy for the deaf and hard of hearing.
This coin is encapsulated and packaged in a custom-designed, highly polished, dome-chested, lacquered hardwood presentation case and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
This marks the eighth year of the First Spouse Gold Coin Series, the U.S. Mint’s first coin program to feature our Nation’s first spouses. A minimum of four one-half ounce, $10 24-karat gold coins will be minted and released annually in the order the spouses served in the position. The coins are minted in proof and uncirculated qualities and are available individually. Each First Spouse Gold Coin coincides with the release of the corresponding circulating Presidential $1 Coin. In 2014, the U.S. Mint will release four coins in the series – Florence Harding, Grace Coolidge, Lou Hoover and, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt.
