It is a one-half ounce 24-karat gold coin struck with an uncirculated finish, giving it a satin-like finish. The obverse (heads side) features a portrait of Florence Harding. The reverse (tails side) depicts a torch, pen, camera, ballots and a ballot box, representing Mrs. Harding’s work with veterans, her husband’s campaign and voting.

This marks the eighth year of the First Spouse Gold Coin Series, the US Mint’s first coin program to feature our Nation’s first spouses. A minimum of four one-half ounce, $10 24-karat gold coins will be minted and released annually in the order the spouses served in the position. The coins are minted in proof and uncirculated qualities and are available individually. Each First Spouse Gold Coin coincides with the release of the corresponding circulating Presidential $1 Coin. In 2014, the US Mint will release four coins in the series – Florence Harding, Grace Coolidge, Lou Hoover and, Anna Eleanor Roosevelt.
