Since then, he has received numerous honors and awards including the Presidential Medal of Freedom; the Public Service Medal, the National Academy of Sciences' highest honor; and the Rotary International Award for World Understanding and Peace. The medal is a smaller bronze replica of the Congressional Gold Medal presented to Dr. Borlaug at a ceremony at the U.S. Capitol Building on July 17, 2007.
