American Eagle Silver and Gold Coins
Collectors of all ages are familiar with the brilliant, inspiring designs gracing the obverse of United States Mint Gold and Silver Coins. Liberty, as created by renowned sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens, was chosen in 1986 as the obverse of the Mint’s signature American Eagle Gold Coins. The design itself has a history of its own. It first appeared on the United States’ $20, or double eagle, gold piece in 1907, where it remained until 1933. Adolph A. Weinman’s Walking Liberty as depicted on the obverse of American Eagle Silver Coins also has a history dating back more than a century, having been created for American Eagle Silver Half Dollar coins in 1916.

Renowned sculptor and artist Augustus Saint-Gaudens’ rendition of Lady Liberty, shown on the American Eagle Gold Coins, is a full-length Liberty with flowing hair, holding a torch in her right hand and an olive branch in her left. The gold coins, struck in 22-karat gold at the West Point Mint, are available in proof and uncirculated finishes. 2021 American Eagle Gold Coins with a new reverse design will be released later this year.

A New Era of American Eagle Coins
Redesign Coming Summer 2021
Beginning in the summer of 2021, American Eagle Gold and Silver coins will feature a new reverse design for the first time in 35 years. The gold coin’s reverse design depicts a portrait of an eagle. Inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "IN GOD WE TRUST," "50 DOLLARS," and "1 OZ. FINE GOLD." The silver coin’s reverse design depicts a single eagle coming in for a landing, carrying an oak branch as if to add it to a nest. Inscriptions are "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "E PLURIBUS UNUM," "1 OZ. FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR." Be ready for the history-making change!
