The Byron Nelson Bronze Medal honors the celebrated golfer in recognition of Mr. Nelson's significant contributions to the game of golf as a player, a teacher and a commentator.

Byron Nelson, (February 4, 1912 – September 26, 2006) was an American PGA Tour golfer between 1935 and 1946. He was considered a top player in the sport of golf during the World War II era and won 54 career victories, including a record 11 in a row.

The obverse design features a portrait of Byron Nelson with the inscriptions “BYRON NELSON 1912-2006” and “ACT OF CONGRESS 2006.”

The reverse features a younger Nelson with the inscriptions “PLAYER, TEACHER, HUMANITARIAN” and “CHAMPION.”
