Birth Set 2017

The 2017 Birth Set makes an ideal gift for the arrival of a baby in 2017. Issued by the U.S. Mint, this set includes the proof coins listed below. Each coin bears the “S” mint mark and was produced at the San Francisco Mint:

• John F. Kennedy half dollar
• Effigy Mounds National Monument quarter from the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program
• Franklin D. Roosevelt dime
• Thomas Jefferson nickel
• Abraham Lincoln penny

The presentation folder includes space to provide your personalized message and a place for the baby’s vital statistics–the date and time of birth, length, and weight. There is also a photo frame area to hold a 3” x 5” photo (not included). A Certificate of Authenticity is located on the back of the folder, and coin specifications are printed on the sleeve.

This is the sixth year the Birth Set has been issued by the U.S. Mint.

U.S. Mint proof coins feature sharp relief and a mirror–like background. Their frosted, sculpted foregrounds give them a special cameo effect. Proof blanks are specially treated, polished, and cleaned to ensure high–quality strikes. The blanks are then fed into presses fitted with specially polished dies and struck at least twice to ensure sharp relief.
