This collectable keepsake ornament is the latest offering from the American Women Quarters™ Program!
From 2022-2025, this historic program celebrates the accomplishments and contributions made by prominent women of the United States. All of the honorees—representing ethnically, racially, and geographically diverse backgrounds—distinguished themselves in a wide variety of fields and endeavors, including suffrage, civil rights, abolition, government, humanities, science, space, the arts, and many others.
Anna May Wong left a lasting legacy for Asian American women in the entertainment industry. Her career spanned motion pictures, television, and theatre. She appeared in more than 60 movies, including silent films and one of the first made in Technicolor. She also appeared in productions on the London and New York stages. Throughout her career, she championed the need for increased representation and more multi-dimensional roles for Asian American actors.
This keepsake ornament is exquisitely designed and hand-crafted in solid brass with a rhodium finish. The intricate design elements honor Wong’s long and remarkable career in the film industry as an actor, director, and producer—it includes the elements of a clapboard, theatrical lighting, the movie film encircling the coin, and marquee lighting. She was also a fashion influencer as an early “flapper” and took a stand against racial stereotyping in the film industry and her own filmography.
Framed by the ornament is a 2022 quarter with the reverse (tails) design featuring a close- up image of Anna May Wong with her head resting on her hand, surrounded by the bright lights of a marquee sign. Inscriptions are “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “QUARTER DOLLAR,” and “ANNA MAY WONG.” The obverse (heads side) of the quarter is not visible. This one-of-a-kind ornament is beautifully protected by matching packaging with ANNA MAY WONG, 2022, and the American Women Quarters logo embossed on the top of the box. It includes a certificate of authenticity, along with an explanation of the ornament’s design elements, and a brief biography of the honoree.
