The American Presidency $1 Coin Cover Series showcases the Presidential $1 Coins. The 2014 Calvin Coolidge $1 Coin Cover is the 30th issue in the series, which began in 2007. This limited-edition cover–only 20,000 will be produced–features two Calvin Coolidge $1 Coins from the first day of production at each United States Mint facility–January 21, 2014 (Philadelphia), and February 19, 2014 (Denver). The coins are mounted on a display card inside an envelope with a U.S. A Flag for All Seasons (Forever®) stamp. The cover also features a portrait of President Coolidge, and the postmark of May 1, 2014, Plymouth, VT, marks the day the Calvin Coolidge $1 Coin Cover was issued by the United States Mint. These coins’ designs display large, dramatic artwork and edge-incused inscriptions of the year, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mint mark. Each coin features a likeness of Coolidge on the obverse (heads) with the inscriptions CALVIN COOLIDGE, IN GOD WE TRUST, 30th PRESIDENT and 1923-1929. Presidential $1 Coins have a common reverse design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty. Inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and $1.
In 2005, President Bush signed the Presidential $1 Coin Act authorizing the United States Mint to strike $1 coins honoring America’s presidents in the order in which they served. This coin, the 30th in the Presidential $1 Coin Program, honors President Calvin Coolidge.
