This medal is a bronze duplicate of the Congressional Gold Medal awarded to Cherokee Nation Code Talkers at a ceremony at the U.S. Capitol Building on November 20, 2013, in recognition of their dedication and valor. The medal measures 1.5” in diameter.

The obverse design features a code talker communicating on a field phone and writing in the Cherokee language. Inscriptions are CHEROKEE NATION and CODE TALKERS in both Cherokee Syllabary and English.

The reverse design features a variation of the Cherokee Nation seal. Inscriptions are WORLD WAR I, WORLD WAR II and ACT OF CONGRESS 2008.

The Code Talkers Recognition Act of 2008 authorized the United States Mint to strike and issue medals to provide the recognition deserved by Native American Code Talkers for their dedication and valor in World Wars I and II. The heroic and dramatic contributions of Native American Code Talkers were instrumental in driving back Axis forces and securing the United States’ victories.
