This 2014 Calvin Coolidge $1 Coin 100-Coin Bag contains 100 circulating quality coins minted at the United States Mint at Philadelphia that have never been placed into circulation.

These coins’ designs display large, dramatic artwork and edge-incused inscriptions of the year, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mint mark. Each coin features a likeness of Coolidge on the obverse (heads) and has a common reverse (tails) design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty.

The design inscriptions on the obverse of the 2014 Calvin Coolidge $1 Coin are:

  • CALVIN COOLIDGE
  • IN GOD WE TRUST
  • 30th PRESIDENT
  • 1923-1929

John Calvin Coolidge was born in Plymouth, Vermont, on July 4, 1872. He graduated from Amherst College with honors, entering the legal profession in Northampton, Massachusetts. He built an illustrious political career prior to becoming President upon the death of President Warren G. Harding in 1923. Coolidge was a city council member and mayor of Northampton, a Massachusetts state legislator, lieutenant governor, governor, and vice president. His presidency is most notable for its economic prosperity and optimism—the “Roaring Twenties.” Coolidge chose not to seek re-election in 1928 and died in 1933.

In 2005, President Bush signed the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 authorizing the United States Mint to strike $1 coins honoring America’s Presidents in the order in which they served. This coin, the 30th in the Presidential $1 Coin Program, honors President Calvin Coolidge.
