The Arches National Park quarter is the third of 2014 and the 23rd overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. This park is a red rock wonderland. Visitors will discover a landscape of contrasting colors, landforms and textures unlike any others in the world. Arches National Park has more than 2,000 natural stone arches, as well as hundreds of soaring pinnacles, massive fins and giant balanced rocks.  It was first established as a national site on April 12, 1929 (46 Stat. 2988).

The reverse depicts Delicate Arch, a 65-foot freestanding natural arch. It is a widely recognizable landmark in Utah and the most famous arch found in the park. It has been depicted on postage stamps and license plates. The Olympic torch relay for the 2002 Winter Olympics passed through this arch. The La Sal Mountains are visible in the background. Inscriptions are ARCHES, UTAH, 2014 and E PLURIBUS UNUM

Each three-coin set features an uncirculated quarter from the United States Mint at Philadelphia, an uncirculated quarter from the United States Mint at Denver and a proof quarter from the United States Mint at San Francisco, with images specific to each national site. The coins are held in a durable plastic card that features a picturesque image and a brief description of the site and the coin, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the card.

As part of the America the Beautiful Quarters Program, the United States Mint introduced the America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Sets to honor the Nation’s national parks and other national sites.

The America the Beautiful Quarters® Program features designs depicting national parks and other national sites. Each year, five new national site designs are depicted on the reverse (tails) of the America the Beautiful Quarters. The United States Mint will issue these quarters in the order in which the honored sites were established as national sites.

Each coin in the series features a common obverse (heads) of the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, restored to bring out subtle details and the beauty of the original model.

The America the Beautiful Quarters Three-Coin Set is also available through the United States Mint’s Online Subscription Program. Visit our Subscriptions page for more information.
