Production Limit: 20,000
The American Presidency $1 Coin Cover Series showcases the Presidential $1 Coin. The 2013 William McKinley $1 Coin Cover is the 25th issue in the series, which began in 2007. This limited-edition cover – only 20,000 will be produced – features two William McKinley $1 Coins from the first day of production at each United States Mint facility – December 11, 2012 (Philadelphia), and October 3, 2012 (Denver). The coins are mounted on a display card inside an envelope with one of the four U.S. Four Flags (Forever®)stamp. The cover also features a portrait of President McKinley, and the postmark of March 19, 2013, Canton, OH, marks the day the William McKinley $1 Coin Cover was issued by the United States Mint.
These coins’ designs display large, dramatic artwork and edge-incused inscriptions of the year, E PLURIBUS UNUM and the mint mark. Each coin features a likeness of President William McKinley and has a common reverse design featuring a striking rendition of the Statue of Liberty.
The design inscriptions on the obverse (heads side) of the 2013 William McKinley $1 Coin are:
- WILLIAM McKINLEY
- IN GOD WE TRUST
- 25th PRESIDENT
- 1897-1901
In 2005, President Bush signed the Presidential $1 Coin Act of 2005 authorizing the United States Mint to strike $1 coins honoring America’s Presidents in the order in which they served. This coin, the 25th in the Presidential $1 Coin Program, honors President William McKinley.
