This five-medal set includes one each of the 2013 1-5/16-inch First Spouse Bronze Medals, in which the obverse bears the likenesses of this year’s First Spouse Gold Coins -  Ida McKinley, Edith Roosevelt, Helen Taft, Ellen Wilson and Edith Wilson on the obverse (heads). The medals are packaged in Mylar®, inserted into a folded card containing product information, and placed in a custom-made envelope.

Ida McKinley Reverse: Depicts two hands crocheting, representing Mrs. McKinley’s work crocheting thousands of slippers that were auctioned off for charity.

Edith Roosevelt Reverse: Features the White House with a slightly off-center column and compass, representing Mrs. Roosevelt’s work in the restoration of the White House.

Helen Taft Reverse: Features a branch of Japanese cherry blossoms, symbolizing Mrs. Taft’s instrumental role in bringing the cherry trees to Washington, D.C.

Ellen Wilson Reverse: Features an image of roses with the White House in the background, a tribute to Mrs. Wilson’s creation of the White House Rose Garden.

Edith Wilson Reverse: Depicts Mrs. Wilson supporting her husband, who had suffered a massive stroke. His right hand holds a cane, while her left hand rests warmly on his.

This is the seventh year of the First Spouse Gold Coin Series. This series features images of the Nation’s first spouses on one-half ounce, 24-karat $10 gold coins, issued in the order they served as first spouse.
