2012 Chaco Culture National Historical Park Quarter 100-Coin Bag, San Francisco (PL2)

Sold Out

New for 2012 - America the Beautiful Quarters® Program “S” mint mark circulating quality quarters! These “S” mint mark quarters will not be released into circulation.

The Chaco Culture National Historical Park quarter is the second to be released in 2012, the second bearing the “S” mint mark and the 12th overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program. This bag is filled with 100 Chaco Culture National Historical Park quarters minted on the main production floor of the United States Mint at San Francisco, each with the “S” mint mark.

The quarter’s reverse (tails side) image illustrates a view to the west of two elevated kivas that are part of the Chetro Ketl Complex. The design also shows the north wall of Chetro Ketl and the north wall of the canyon, reflecting the culture the park was established to commemorate. Inscriptions are CHACO CULTURE, NEW MEXICO, 2012 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.  Design candidates were developed in consultation with representatives of Chaco Culture National Historical Park. Each coin in the series features a common obverse (heads) with the 1932 portrait of George Washington by John Flanagan, restored to bring out subtle details and the beauty of the original model. Inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and QUARTER DOLLAR.
