Sold Out
American Eagle Platinum Proof Coins are available in limited mintages in the one ounce size. The obverse features Lady Liberty, symbolizing vigilance and faithfulness to duty.

The reverse design is emblematic of the principle “To Insure Domestic Tranquility”, the third of six principles of American democracy found in the Preamble to the United States Constitution. It features the harvest goddess emerging from a field of wheat symbolizing the vastness of our Nation and its wide diversity of views. Her bearing a stalk of wheat in her left hand, while extending her right hand to a landing dove, represents the fulfillment of tranquility in our Nation's cohesive yet free society. It also features an American Eagle privy mark, from an original "coin punch" identified at the United States Mint at Philadelphia. Inscriptions include UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1 oz., .9995 PLATINUM and $100. An American Eagle “privy mark” is on the reverse of the coin. The privy mark is from an original “coin punch” identified at the United States Mint at Philadelphia.

Each 2011 American Eagle One Ounce Platinum Proof Coin contains 99.95 percent pure platinum and is packaged in a custom-designed portfolio presentation case.

In 2009, the United States Mint introduced a new six-year platinum coin program. This new series explores the core concepts of American democracy by highlighting the Preamble of the United States Constitution. This program will examine the six (6) principles of the Preamble as follows:

  1. 2009--To Form a More Perfect Union
  2. 2010--To Establish Justice
  3. 2011--To Insure Domestic Tranquility
  4. 2012--To Provide for the Common Defence
  5. 2013--To Promote General Welfare
  6. 2014--To Secure the Blessings of Liberty to Ourselves and our Posterity

The themes for the reverse designs for this program are inspired by narratives prepared by John G. Roberts Jr., Chief Justice of the United States, at the request of the United States Mint.
