The design on the obverse of this uncirculated silver dollar depicts the busts of a male and female soldier, symbolizing worldwide deployment of the 21st century U.S. Army. Inscriptions are LIBERTY, IN GOD WE TRUST and 2011.
The reverse design symbolizes the seven core values of the U.S. Army. It features an image of the Great Seal of the United States, worn on U.S. Army dress and service uniforms since the early 1800s. Inscriptions are UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, E PLURIBUS UNUM, U.S. ARMY, ONE DOLLAR and the seven core values: LOYALTY, DUTY, RESPECT, SELFLESS SERVICE, HONOR, INTEGRITY and PERSONAL COURAGE.

Public Law 110-450, signed by President George W. Bush on December 1, 2008, authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury to mint and issue commemorative coins in recognition and celebration of the establishment of the United States Army in 1775, to honor the American soldier of both today and yesterday, in wartime and in peace, and to commemorate the traditions, history and heritage of the U.S. Army and its role in American society.
Surcharges from the sale of these coins are authorized to be paid to the Army Historical Foundation to help finance the National Museum of the United States Army.
