The American Samoa quarter-dollar is the 4th coin released in the 2009 District of Columbia and U.S. Territories Quarters Program. Each two-roll set consists of 80 quarters: one roll of 40 coins with the “P” mint mark for Philadelphia and one roll of 40 coins with the “D” mint mark for Denver.

The American Samoa quarter reverse depicts the ava bowl (“tanoa”), whisk and staff in the foreground with a coconut tree on the shore in the background. It also features the inscriptions, AMERICAN SAMOA and SAMOA MUAMUA LE ATUA, the motto of American Samoa, which means “Samoa, God is First” while the obverse continues to feature the familiar image of President George Washington.

The United States Mint will accept and fulfill orders beginning July 27, 2009, at 12:00 noon (ET). American Samoa quarter bags and rolls will be available for approximately 10 weeks after this date. To ensure that all members of the public have fair and equal access to United States Mint Products, any order placed prior to the official on-sale date and time shall not be deemed accepted by the United States Mint and will not be honored.
