At the end of the initial 30-day period, and each 30-day period thereafter, the United States Mint will re-evaluate this limit and either extend, adjust or remove it.
Surcharges from the sale of this coin are authorized to be paid to the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission to further its work in planning the celebration of Lincoln’s bicentennial and the continued study of his life.

The obverse of this proof silver dollar coin features an image of President Lincoln. The image is symbolic of Lincoln’s strength and resolve, and was inspired by Daniel Chester French’s famous sculpture of the President that sits inside the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. The reverse of the coin features the immortal words Lincoln spoke at Gettysburg — the last 43 words of his most famous speech – inscribed within a laurel wreath. Under the wreath is a curling banner with Lincoln’s signature incused in the center.
