To encourage robust national circulation of $1 Coins (non-numismatic, circulation-grade coins), the United States Mint has introduced the Circulating $1 Coin Direct Ship Program. This program makes it easy for retailers, financial institutions, and other interested parties to obtain smaller quantities of $1 coins.
The intended purpose of the Circulating $1 Coin Direct Ship Program is to make $1 Coins readily available to the public, at no additional cost, so they can be easily introduced into circulation–particularly by using them for retail transactions, vending, and mass transit. Increased circulation of $1 Coins saves the Nation money.
NOTE: Effective July 22, 2011, the United States Mint has eliminated the credit and debit card method of payment option for the $1 Coins through the Direct Ship Program. Customers desiring to purchase $1 coins through the Direct Ship Program can still do so by wire transfer, money order or check. Purchases by wire transfer may be faxed to (202)756-6585; money orders or check orders may be submitted in writing to the following address:
United States Mint
PO Box 71192, Philadelphia
Please download the order form/wire transfer instructions and follow the instructions provided on the form. http://www.usmint.gov/downloads/directship/orderform.pdf
The immediate bank deposit of $1 Coins ordered through this Program does not result in their introduction into circulation and, therefore, does not comply with the intended purpose of the Program.
The $1 coins, wrapped in rolls of 25 coins, are available in quantities of 250 coins per box.
For this special program:
- The United States Mint pays for standard shipping and handling of domestic orders. Any special handling will be paid by the customer.
- Specific coins are available only while supplies last.
- Please allow approximately 1-2 weeks for shipping.
- All sales are final and there are no returns.
