2007 First Spouse Series One-Half Ounce Gold Uncirculated Coin Dolley Madison (X08)

Sold Out

This year marks the inaugural year of the First Spouse Gold Coin Series, the United States Mint’s first coin series to feature our Nation’s First Spouses.

Four one-half ounce, $10 24-karat Gold First Spouse Coins will be minted and released annually in the order the spouses served in the White House. The coins are minted in proof and uncirculated condition and are available individually. Each First Spouse Gold Coin coincides with the release of the corresponding circulating Presidential $1 Coin. In 2007, the United States Mint will release the first four coins in the series which include Martha Washington, Abigail Adams, Thomas Jefferson’s Liberty and Dolley Madison.

Dolley Madison: The obverse, designed and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart, features a portrait of Dolley Madison. The reverse, designed by Artistic Infusion Program Master Designer Joel Iskowitz and sculpted by United States Mint Sculptor-Engraver Don Everhart, portrays a famous act of heroism in which Dolley Madison saved White House cabinet papers and a Gilbert Stuart portrait of George Washington from destruction at the hands of oncoming British troops who occupied and burned Washington, DC, during the War of 1812.

First Spouse Gold Uncirculated Coins are available in limited mintages. Each First Spouse One-Half Ounce Gold Uncirculated Coin is encapsulated and packaged in a custom-designed, highly polished, plush-lined presentation case and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Director of the United States Mint.

Dolley Madison Coin Maximum Mintage: 40,000 total across all product options. A maximum of 20,000 proof coins and 20,000 uncirculated coins will be produced.

There is currently no household limit in effect. Initially, a household limit of one coin per product option per household was in effect for the first month of sale. This was followed by a household limit of ten coins per product option which has now been lifted.
