The America the Beautiful Quarters® Program features designs depicting national parks and other national sites. The Vicksburg National Military Park quarter is the fourth to be released in 2011 and the ninth overall in the America the Beautiful Quarters® Program.
More than 1,350 monuments, a national cemetery and the restored Union ironclad gunboat, the U.S.S. Cairo from one of the pivotal battles of the Civil War, are featured within Vicksburg National Military Park.
Each three-coin set features an uncirculated quarter from the U.S. Mint at Philadelphia, an uncirculated quarter from the U.S. Mint at Denver and a proof quarter from the U.S. Mint at San Francisco with images specific to each national site. The coins are held in a durable plastic card that features a picturesque image and a brief description of the site and the coin, as well as a Certificate of Authenticity on the back of the card.
